Brand New! Pottery With Alpacas

Let’s spend the sunset hours together creating handbuilt pottery alongside our friendly alpacas. We are going to take advantage of beautiful evenings outdoors to create the vessels of your choosing – vases, planters, platters, mugs and decorative objects. I’ll guide you through each step so no prior experience is needed.

Pottery with Alpacas

$275

Pottery with Alpacas is a relaxed 4-week evening series where creativity meets the calm of the pasture. Join us Tuesdays from 6–8 pm to handbuild both functional and decorative pieces, surrounded by our curious alpacas and the beauty of the farm. We’ll be outside in our pasture, moving into the studio if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Weeks 1–3 focus on creating your vessels, and week 4 is dedicated to painting and glazing. Pieces will be fired and ready to take home after the session. Whether you’re new to clay or experienced, this is a chance to slow down, get inspired, and create something truly unique outdoors.

What is throwing pottery on the wheel?

Wheel throwing is the process of shaping clay on a rotating wheel to create functional forms—think bowls, cups, and vases. You’ll learn the core steps: wedging (preparing the clay), centering (aligning it on the wheel), opening and pulling walls (building height and shape), then trimming to refine the foot. In later weeks, you’ll explore simple surface techniques and glazing. It’s hands-on, a little messy, and incredibly satisfying as the clay responds to your touch.

We look forward to welcoming you at our pottery studio located in the heart of Montgomery County’s Agricultural Reserve!
